The game

Already own an Unmatched box? Here is which one to buy next, and which one fits your table.

2-4 players, 9+. Each player leads one hero and a 30-card deck on a zoned map. 14 English boxes listed here, all standalone and compatible with each other.

No base game, only standalone boxes. Each box has its own heroes, map and rules. Any hero can fight any other: your second box mostly brings more heroes and maps.

Duel box = 2 players. Robin Hood vs. Bigfoot, Little Red vs. Beowulf, Houdini vs. The Genie, Sun’s Origin and Ali vs. Bruce Lee have 2 heroes and a 2-player map. For 2v2 you need 4 heroes and a 4-player map: a Battle of Legends box, Cobble & Fog, Slings & Arrows, an Adventures box or a Witcher box.

Adventures = co-op. Tales to Amaze and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles play together against a villain, 1 to 4. It is the only way to play solo. Their heroes also work in regular duels.

Which Unmatched box after my first one?

There is no base game: every box plays alone. If you own a duel box, get a box with 4 heroes such as Battle of Legends, Volume One or Two: you gain 4 heroes and a map for 4. If you already have one, pick whatever tempts you: every hero mixes with every other.

Can I play with 4 using a duel box?

Not with that box alone: it has 2 heroes and a 2-player map. At 4 you play 2v2, so you need 4 heroes, for example two duel boxes, and a map made for 4.

Can I play Unmatched solo?

Yes, with an Unmatched Adventures box: Tales to Amaze or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, co-op for 1 to 4 against a villain. Heroes from any other box can join in.

And with 3 players?

Yes, free-for-all, with the official rules that came with the Witcher boxes. You need 3 heroes and a map for up to 4. Each Witcher box has both.

Do the Jurassic Park, Buffy and Marvel boxes mix in?

Yes: every Unmatched box is compatible. They are left out of the picker here because they never came out in French, so the French page cannot track them.
